Yes, he may not conform to rules... Yes he may not show up for practice,
or when there plays badly or poorly.... But I would like anyone to offer
me examples of when showing up on time, and practicing hard have won
a playoff games-- Its playing in the playoff game, that wins the playoff game.
Sure, they help, but when you can win those games without practice or
being late, who cares...
Your winning games. Considering Philly is in its
best position marketing wise, and its best position television wise,
and not to mention selling tickets like hot cakes. What is the problem?,
leave Allen alone. Allen is a young star in this league, he knows it,
he sees it. Yes, he is enamored with himself, and likes the night life.
This is what you get from an early to mid-twenties player. In 5 years
Allen will settle down, and be the next huge impact player... .
The Jordan, if you will, of the 76ers, he'll come early and stay late,
because that's when winning will be most important.
He is starting to get it now. Look at the tape of him losing to Indiana,
and tell me its not getting to him, that maybe he needs to work harder
or be more of a team player. I don't think the answer is dealing "
The Answer", you won't get a better player, you'll just get a different
player. If Philly is in that much of a hurry to win it all right now, they
are in for a big surprise, because in moving Allen, you start over, you
step backwards two seasons. .
No one in this league can step
into Allen's role with the Sixers and get them to the 2nd round.
So all of this talk of dealing him, needs to stop because that would
be insane to do. And if Larry Brown does not like Allen, then maybe
Larry needs to go- because last time I remember, I have never seen
Larry Brown hit the game winner in overtime, or maybe he should deal
with it like the professional. Allen is the future. Everyone sees that.
You do not trade the future as it is blossoming into the present.
Allen is a future multi-time all-star, he will lead the league in
scoring, and be an all-defense team member.
. Allen will bring
the Sixers to the national stage at least 10 times a year, and
he will continue to be impressive. If you trade that, if you say
"Ok, he's not developing fast enough or maturing fast enough"
remember he could just be coming into the draft now, had he
stayed at Georgetown, or at best be a 2nd year player.
Allen has a 7 year deal, lets wait until he's at least half way
through before we talk about trading him, and maybe just
maybe think about talking to him, and helping him become
a better person and a better player. I think that's a much
better solution than dealing him, but you know a headline that
says "Lets talk to Allen" doesn't sell newspapers, does it?
